Regardless, What Do You Choose?

Regardless, What Do You Choose?

Recently, with all the storms and earthquakes and other disasters throughout the world, the faith of many believers has been rocked, threatened, challenged, in some cases, devastated. During our worst events, when our prayers seem unanswered, is the time when we need to trust our Father the most. Seems like a strange thing to say, I know, but it is the absolute Truth!

You can see this attitude throughout the Bible! Job said,

“I will continue to trust God even if he kills me” (Job 13:15).

The Babylonian king threatened to throw Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego into the fiery furnace, and when he finally fulfilled his threat, they responded:

If you throw us into the hot furnace, the God we serve can save us. And if he wants to, he can save us from your power. But even if God does not save us, we want you to know, King, that we refuse to serve your gods. We will not worship the gold idol you have set up” (Daniel 3:17–18)

Did you see that? "Even if God does not save us . . ." You prayed during your crisis; you believe He answers you whenever you pray; you have relied on Him for many years, but just when you needed Him the most, He seemed to fail you! What's up with that? What are you going to do?

The prophet Habakkuk prayed:

Even if the fig tree does not bloom     and the vines have no grapes,     even if the olive tree fails to produce     and the fields yield no food,     even if the sheep pen is empty     and the stalls have no cattle— even then,     I will rejoice in the Lord; I will exult in the victorious Elohim of my salvation!” (Habakkuk 3:17–18).

How about you? Do you have such resolute and determined faith? Friends, whenever we face difficult and trying times, we have two choices:

We can see our relationship with Him as being nothing more than a business transaction: "If you fulfill your responsibilities, I will fulfill mine! If you fail to answer my prayers the way I feel you should, then I am justified in rejecting you and demanding a refund all of the tithes that I had paid!"

Or, you can have a covenant relationship! An intimate, Father/son relationship where you make an unconditional commitment to the One who loves you unconditionally. Then the less you understand Him, the more you need to trust Him.

Which do you choose? That is where the psalmist walked:

Your road went through the sea.     Your path went through raging water,         but your footprints could not be seen” (Psalm 77:19)

My dear friends, I have continually encouraged you to follow our Master, regardless of the situation and despite the difficulties.  I hope you have chosen to covenant with your Father who loves you and redeems all that He allows happening in your life. Sure, you may not understand it, but understanding shouldn't matter. Today, do you need to renew your covenant with your Lord?
