Matching our profession of love for God with our actions!!! - Pastor Kalu Oji

How we approach, value, and act towards God, His work, and everything about Him are the true determinants of how much we really love Him regardless of the confessions of our mouths. King David did not just confess his love for the LORD our God, he took it a step further by not only preparing for the building of a permanent temple of worship for God in Jerusalem. David made sure that he matched his confession of love for the LORD his God with his actions in setting aside enormous amount of gold and other precious metals and stones for the construction of the temple in Jerusalem. This action of David triggered off a chain reaction in the land of Israel so much so that not only the leaders but also the people of Israel having seen David's dedication and preparation for this temple project despite the fact that God had told him that his son Solomon will be the one to build the temple and not him, followed suit and gave towards the project. Solomon the son of David took it a step further by buying into the shared vision and made sure that no expense was spared in the construction of God's temple in line with this shared vision. Glory to God, Alleluia!!! Watch this:

"This is the foundation which Solomon laid for building the house of God: The length was sixty cubits (by cubits according to the former measure) and the width twenty cubits. 4 And the vestibule that was in front of the sanctuary was twenty cubits long across the width of the house, and the height was one hundred and twenty. He overlaid the inside with pure gold. 5 The larger room he paneled with cypress which he overlaid with fine gold, and he carved palm trees and chainwork on it. 6 And he decorated the house with precious stones for beauty, and the gold was gold from Parvaim. 7 He also overlaid the house—the beams and doorposts, its walls and doors—with gold; and he carved cherubim on the walls. 8 And he made the Most Holy Place. Its length was according to the width of the house, twenty cubits, and its width twenty cubits. He overlaid it with six hundred talents of fine gold. 9 The weight of the nails was fifty shekels of gold; and he overlaid the upper area with gold. 10 In the Most Holy Place he made two cherubim, fashioned by carving, and overlaid them with gold. 11 The wings of the cherubim were twenty cubits in overall length: one wing of the one cherub was five cubits, touching the wall of the room, and the other wing was five cubits, touching the wing of the other cherub; 12 one wing of the other cherub was five cubits, touching the wall of the room, and the other wing also was five cubits, touching the wing of the other cherub. 13 The wings of these cherubim spanned twenty cubits overall. They stood on their feet, and they faced inward. 14 And he made the veil of blue, purple, crimson, and fine linen, and wove cherubim into it. 15 Also he made in front of the temple two pillars thirty-five cubits high, and the capital that was on the top of each of them was five cubits. 16 He made wreaths of chainwork, as in the inner sanctuary, and put them on top of the pillars; and he made one hundred pomegranates, and put them on the wreaths of chainwork. 17 Then he set up the pillars before the temple, one on the right hand and the other on the left; he called the name of the one on the right hand Jachin, and the name of the one on the left Boaz..." (2 Chronicles 3:3-2 Chronicles 4, NKJV).

Solomon made sure that he matched his profession of love for the LORD his God with his actions in handling the project of building God's temple. How about us today? Are we matching our profession of love for the LORD our God with our actions and daily living or are we using our profession of love for the LORD our God as a means to an end? We may be able to fool others today however, no man or woman alive or dead has ever succeeded in fooling God. God's word tells us in Luke 8:16-17, NKJV that:

"No one, when he has lit a lamp, covers it with a vessel or puts it under a bed, but sets it on a lampstand, that those who enter may see the light. 17 For nothing is secret that will not be revealed, nor anything hidden that will not be known and come to light."

Again in Jeremiah 23:24, NKJV, it is written:

"Can anyone hide himself in secret places, So I shall not see him?” says the Lord; “Do I not fill heaven and earth?” says the Lord."

Time has come for us as those who claim to be born again believing children of God to start matching our profession of love for the LORD our God with our actions. God's word in Numbers 23:19, NKJV says that:

"God is not a man, that He should lie, Nor a son of man, that He should repent. Has He said, and will He not do? Or has He spoken, and will He not make it good?"

Time has come for us to take our lives to the next level of God's expectation of us. It is time for us to step outside the box of "sons and daughters of man" and step inside the box of those created in the image and likeness of God who is not a man that He should lie, nor a son of man, that He should repent.

COME ON NOW!!! Help us dear LORD to become those You have created in Your own image and likeness from today moving forward in the name of Jesus, Amen.
